448eeb4e9f3219 Ghajini is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language thriller film written and directed by A.Ş.
The film stars Dhanush, Anushka Shetty, Eswari Rao and Prakash Raj in lead roles with music composed by A.R. Rahman. It is set in the backdrop of post-war Sri Lankan civil war that devastated the island nation owing to its thirty years long conflict between separatist Tamil Tigers (LTTE) and the government of Sri Lanka's Sinhalese army where revenge has become an integral part of life for one particular protagonist named Bhaskar (Dhanush).

After the success of Baasha, Dhanush decided to produce a Tamil film which was titled Ghajini. Director Vinayan had written the story upon which A.S.Athur composed the music and The Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio wrote lyrics. Vinayan had also penned up dialogues for this film. The film was officially launched on 14 July 2010 by Dr. M.G.Ramachandran, the Tamil Film Producers Council and released initially as A/L Shankar's Ghajini. The film was renamed as Ghajini after Vinayan's script was rewritten by Siva as he believed that it would be easier if the audience would relate to a story named after them as it is easier to sell tickets for a person than for a city or country. A press meet and photo release of the film was held at Thiruvanmiyur on 2 September 2012, where Dhanush and the cast and crew answered questions from media representatives and unveiled their first look poster of the film. The film was made on a budget of 1.5 crores and it was made with the support of Ethiraj Cinemas, . The film's soundtrack was composed by A.R. Rahman and released by Sulekha Music Company.

The film received good opening at Chennai and earned over Rs 4 crores at the Chennai box office in first weekend and went on to become a blockbuster at the box office establishing Dhanush as a bankable star and also completed 100 days in cinemas across Tamil Nadu earning over Rs 60 crores at the Box Office, which is about 50% of its total budget.

The film was dubbed and released in Telugu as Ghajini and in Hindi as . The film was later remade in Kannada as "Vichitra" and also in Bengali as
"Aynabaji".

Bhaskar (Dhanush) is a software engineer who lives alone after the death of his parents. He is a silent, gentle man who is very fond of his sister Amudha. He has developed a habit that whenever he sees an old man or woman on the street, he will help them like giving money to beggars and make sure they don't beg anymore and live happily.
