Streptozotocin (STZ) selectively kills beta cells and is trusted to induce experimental diabetic issues in rats. Rodent beta cells are very sensitive to the toxic results of STZ, while human beta cells tend to be very resistant to STZ. Benefiting from this characteristic, here, we explain two protocols when it comes to induction of STZ-diabetes. In the 1st model, hyperglycemia is induced prior to islet transplantation, whereas within the 2nd design, STZ is injected after islet transplantation. T
